This morning
The freshly uncovered sun lights up one side of me
I move slightly over into it and a smile glides over my face
It reminds me of the warmth you bring
The silly songs you make me sing
When you take me under your wing
And hold me till I’m all cried out
Crawling through our neighbors front lawns
To find dandelions, even just one
I remember the spontaneous road trips we go on
Having to find our way after missing the exit
Holding your hand makes being lost a ton better
Even when it’s winter and it’s a bit wetter
And when my sister wants the radio higher, we let her
Because we only need each other to be in heaven
With the angels and unearthly colors we dance and pivot
Because our blossoming love knows no earthly limit
You say the words that mean so much, and I fearfully pray it
Because I’m too scared to let them go from my soul
You fill the thoughts in my brain starting at the brain stem
I ponder over us and people, sometimes I’m up till 2 a.m.
My solution is this: always let someone know you love them
Because now, you’re dead
